Holly Willoughby breaks social media silence amid Queen ‘queue jumping’ backlash

It comes as a petition calling for Willougby and This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield to be sacked from the ITV daytime show hit 65,000 signatures

23 September 2022

olly Willoughby has posted on social media for the first time since she and This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield were falsely accused of jumping the queue to see the Queen’s coffin.

The TV presenters have addressed the misunderstanding, explaining that they had media accreditation and were there in a journalistic capacity to report on events, however that has failed to defuse the situation.

They have faced a huge backlash since the incident, with a petition calling for them both to be sacked from the ITV daytime show hitting 65,000 signatures.

Wiloughby, 41, has been noticeably quiet online since it all kicked off, but took to social media on Friday to congratulate friend Lisa Snowdon on winning Celebrity MasterChef.

Sharing Snowdon’s post on Instagram Stories, she wrote: “Congrats. Well done clever lady,” adding a red heart emoji.

Prior to that, the mum-of-three’s last Instagram post was on September 12, four days before the queue-jump drama, while Schofield hasn’t shared anything online since September 8.

Viewers were concerned for the usually bubbly blonde during Thursday’s episode of This Morning, commenting on social media that she looked as though she “wanted to burst into tears”.

“Holly looks like she wants to burst into tears,” remarked one user on Twitter.

“Holly doesn’t seem her happy bubbly self today. She seems really awkward and on edge,” agreed another.

While others felt that both she and Schofield looked like they wanted to be anywhere other than there.

“You can see that the two are just hanging on to a thread here,” wrote one.

“Definitely no energy and don’t won’t to be there,” said a second.
